Wedgelock has designed and built a wide range of quick couplers along with a full line of attachments

Quick couplers are the cornerstone of Wedgelock and at last count, there were 230,000 of their units operating around the world, says the New Zealand-based manufacturer.

The business was established in 1994 and is privately held by the Calvert family, operating from a 4200sqm manufacturing facility located in the Wellington area.

Wedgelock has designed and built a wide range of quick couplers along with a full line of attachments for the civil, mining, forestry, demolition, and general contracting industries. Their attachments are made to fit machines from one-tonne right through to 120 tonnes.

The manufacturer has relationships and customers globally, in markets such as Australia, North America, Asia, Southeast Asia, and the UK, however, as the owners often say, "the New Zealand market is very important and special to us, as this is where it all began."

Directors Matthew and David Calvert have ‘engineering’ in their DNA. Even today they are heavily involved in the innovation and development of new products — the tenx^® technology and their newest product the QuickFlow oil through pin grabber coupler, currently operating in Australia and soon to be launched in the New Zealand market later this year.

Wedgelock says they are committed to supporting the requirements of their New Zealand customers. An example of their commitment was in late 2022, investing in new plant equipment to support and improve their lead times.

The investment included a new robotic welding cell and increasing their CNC machining capacities with new machines. Added to the financial investment are new initiatives — having attachments in stock for quick delivery and ensuring what they deliver are of high quality with sound technical and product support, so that their customers can rely on them as a supplier.
