Product feature: Morooka small dumpers
Magnum Equipment has introduced a new smaller-sized rubber track carrier, the MST200VDR, to the New Zealand market
The addition of the MST200 adds to a great year for the West Auckland-based outfit so far, with director Liam Field saying the company’s growing portfolio is a testament to the quality of the machinery they are offering to the market.
"The new Morooka fills a gap in our current fleet of rubber track carriers," says Liam. "We are now better able to custom-fit the needs of our customers."
The new two-tonne carrier sports a 25hp Kubota V1505 engine, and at 1.5-metre wide with a length of 2.85 metres, it’s a dependable machine for jobs in tight spaces.
The MST200 is the smallest version of the Morooka VDRs available, and Liam says that despite the machine’s small stature, it’s a vital addition to Magnum’s growing catalogue.
"It can go places others can’t get to," he says. "It’s the smallest rotational available, and because it’s reversible, you don’t have to drive in one direction and you don’t have to turn the tracks; you just swing around the body. Easy."
Liam says the MST200 is ideal for smaller type jobs, such as drainage in the back of a property. "Contractors who are looking for something that can handle those limited-access type jobs," he explains.
"It provides a perfect solution to any application demanding manoeuvrability in tight working conditions. When space is at a premium, Morooka’s compact MST200VDR delivers optimum performance."
Morooka products are used in a wide range of applications and are particularly suited to environmentally sensitive areas.
The MST200VDR features hydrostatic transmission, rubber tracks—faster than steel tracks—with lower ground pressure, easy maintenance, and is operator-friendly. The machines’ rubber crawler carrier is well suited for soft, sandy, and rough terrain. Morooka says the rubber tracks are a result of more than 50 years of joint development between Morooka and Bridgestone.
All Morooka models have durable rubber tracks that combine the speed, quiet travel, and smooth riding characteristics of a tyre-equipped vehicle but with the greater traction and low ground pressure of a steel-tracked carrier.
Magnum Equipment secured its Morooka distributorship in July last year. The first Morooka machines brought in were the 1500DVR and 2200VDR model turntable dumpers. Liam says the brand has grown from strength to strength ever since. He says there has been ample interest in the smaller version of the Morooka carrier since it arrived.
"As soon as the new machine arrived, there was a big demand straightaway," he says. "We’ve imported the first two, and the day they got here and people found out, there was a real buzz about them."
And while there are other similar two tonners, they don’t all have the rotation facility that makes this machine a crucial addition to Magnum’s portfolio.
"There’s nothing else in the market like them," says Liam. "We’re really excited to have the smallest version of the VDR available to offer our customers."
