Isuzu Utes New Zealand has introduced an additional model to their second-generation MU-X

The new model peels back a few treats to offer an LS-U model at a tough-to-resist $75,990 (+ORC) price point, says the distributor.

The LS-U retains its SUV capabilities, including seven seats, 3500kg towing capacity, and a five-star ANCAP safety rating. It’s powered by the same three-litre CRDi turbo diesel engine matched with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Isuzu Utes New Zealand spokesperson Kimberley Waters says, "The MU-X is a favourite among the rural community. By introducing a lower-spec option, we hope to offer Kiwis a good balance of features and value in a model known for its reputation, reliability, and safety."

Most of the new MU-X’s styling remains the same, with the ‘Cross Flow’ grille and arrow-type LED headlights up front and redesigned LED taillights and a subtle roof spoiler at the rear. The LS-U model drives on 18-inch alloy wheels, which are paired with a full-size spare wheel and tyre. The LS-U also still retains a power-operated tailgate.

The interior features full black trim, the seating upholstery is finished with high-quality and durable cloth, and there’s electric adjustable lumbar support for the driver. The MU-X’s wading depth is 800mm, while a rear diff lock offers improved traction on slippery surfaces and 4x4 Lo is available.

The Terrain Command dial allows drivers to shift between 2WD and 4WD Hi mode while moving at up to 100km/h. There’s a range of electronic aids, including a nine-inch touchscreen audio system with satellite navigation functionality, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto capabilities.

The MU-X was issued with a five-star safety rating from independent vehicle safety authority, ANCAP, having scored well across all four key areas of ANCAP assessment, says Isuzu Utes NZ.

Each Isuzu MU-X is delivered standard with a comprehensive, bumper-to-bumper three-year/100,000km warranty, and up to three years or 100,000km of roadside assistance, whichever occurs first, its distributor says.
