When it comes to buying and selling earthmoving machinery, Global Tractors has quickly earnt a reputation as industry experts. With around 40 years of heavy equipment experience between them, Stewart and Marc McSkimming have built their business around their core beliefs of honesty, trust and integrity.

This September sees the business take the next progressive step with its first on-site auction in Christchurch. Stewart, Marc and the team at Global Tractors have extensive background in sourcing, purchasing, importing, and selling quality new and used machinery. "We don’t just understand the product, we understand the people who use it," says Marc. "Your consignments are not just lot number to us. We pride ourselves on having genuine empathy with our clients and listening to their needs."

"When you’re buying gear that’s essential to your livelihood, you expect the auction company to have a good understanding of it," says Stewart. "Auction staff need to be able to answer your questions about a piece of machinery and have a real understanding of its purpose or value," he says.

That’s where Global Tractors offers a unique point of difference. "We combine comprehensive knowledge of earthmoving equipment with expertise in both the New Zealand domestic market and the import/export market," says Stewart.

Sellers can contact Marc or Stewart to discuss consigning vehicles, equipment or attachments. "We’re looking for any equipment a contractor is likely to buy – from bulk road cones and accessories, to diggers and trucks," says Stewart.

And once the consignment is delivered, Global Tractors can also provide any necessary mechanical repairs, onsite servicing and grooming and even a vehicle wash and polish.

"We already have an excellent lineup ready for buyers," says Marc. "Our first auction has been in the planning stages for many months and the mix of plant and machinery consigned for 15 September is certainly going to be of interest."

Diesel technicians will be on site during viewing days and on auction day to provide independent appraisals to buyers. And once a purchase has been made, Global Tractors can assist with nationwide transport, servicing and repairs, mechanical appraisals and pre-COF inspections. The team can also help sort international packing, shipping and other logistics.

The team is currently planning for two auctions per year in the South Island.

"We’re expecting a great turn out for the first auction, with a number of items that are going to generate some serious interest," says Stewart. "And of course, we’re looking forward to catching up with a few familiar faces and to meeting some new ones too."
