Hot on the heels of opening their new branch in Wellington comes news of more products in Pilehire’s fleet across the North Island

Well known for their hire of drilling, stabilisation and piling equipment to New Zealand’s construction industry, Pilehire has now ventured into smaller equipment, catering to the residential and landscaping industries.

"We needed something to help our customers who work in the tight confines of Kiwi backyards," says Grant Davidson of Pilehire.

Hearing the calls, they went to market looking for a compact drill rig with the capacity to do decent jobs out the back of existing homes.

With a width footprint just over 1.7 metres and a machine weight of six tonne, their FY10 drill rig can sneak its way down the side of many houses.

"Although narrow, its stability and work capacity are substantial," says Grant. The FY10 spec sheet reads like that of a much larger drill rig. With mast height of 2.8-metres it will drill to a depth of 10 metres at a diameter of 600mm.

The 10kn rotary torque along with drill speeds up to 45rpm make it time efficient and capable of breaking through pretty much whatever lies below the surface in a residential section.

Pilehire also has a wide selection of extensions, drills, augers, and buckets to go with the FY10. Any of Pilehire’s team can advise on best componentry for the job so customers won’t end up wasting time once on site. Cost effective and fast, trouble-free drilling is their moto.

With a rear swing radius of just over 1.5 metres, it’s easy to see why the FY10 fits well for drilling in tight confines. Dropping holes for retaining walls can now be a painless process.

Adding to the FY10’s capabilities, Pilehire has included a 350mm blade for light excavator duties and because of its compact nature, the FY10 can be transported with its Kelly bar installed.
