The Ironmax website matches equipment users with businesses that have the appropriate gear for hire — and is free for everyone to use

Designed to group hire companies into one place, the Ironmax equipment hire website was launched just over 12 months ago, and with beta testing completed, the site is now being made available to the wider hire industry.

The custom-made Ironmax site was built to run alongside TWR Media’s other long-established print brands and automotive websites, which include Deals on Wheels, Farm Trader, CAM, Trade-A-Boat NZ, and Motorhomes Caravans & Destinations.

Simple and free to use, the Ironmax website matches equipment users with businesses that have the appropriate gear for hire, and from there they deal directly with each other.

Virtual mall of hire

Some users have described Ironmax as a ‘virtual mall of hire’, by allowing users to look at different hire company options in one place and in an easy-to-understand format.

"What I like about the site is that it can be an excellent resource for people wanting to hire equipment and companies with gear that is available to be hired," says TWR Media publisher Randolph Covich.

"Listings include both dry and wet hire options, so even a one-person business or someone with a lot of stock can offer their services or equipment for hire."

The latest version of the site is intended to include any type of equipment, including security fencing, portable cabins, lighting, small plant, and virtually any type of gear that is available for hire.

Free to use

The site is free for everyone to use, including those who list their equipment for hire (up to 100 listings).

"To prevent scammers, anyone who lists equipment for hire is signed on by our admin team. It’s a painless experience and we don’t take any credit card details, but that way everything is above board," says Randolph.

Once signed up, listers have access to a self-use dashboard where they can upload equipment for hire and are notified by email or phone. A New Zealand-based helpdesk is also available if any issues arise.

"We are continually adding more categories, so by signing on businesses, we can assess their needs and add more categories as needed."

Mobile friendly

With some 80% of web traffic accessed via handheld device, the Ironmax website is mobile friendly, allowing users to hire equipment when working away for their home base, enabling a more efficient way of finding equipment or comparing hire rates.

"The site is in its infancy, and I really think that it will become an excellent resource,’ says Randolph. "With the paywall removed, I’m of the opinion that it will continue to build on what we have established."
