The manufacturer’s mulchers have proven themselves thoroughly when up against New Zealand’s demanding conditions, evident from the large number of machines working throughout the country.

Contractors and landowners are reaping the benefits of using FAE mulchers to clear away scrub, stumps, gorse, and forestry slash in a cost-effective way due to lower requirements for labour and machines compared to traditional practices of spraying chemical and then root raking, which can leave the material in unsightly piles around the work area.

FAE manufactures a vast range of machinery

FAE manufactures a vast range of machinery to handle different situations. For example, fixed tooth excavators, skid steers, and tractor mulchers, along with stump cutters, which are designed to remove the stumps completely.

FAE also supplies a range of forestry tillers that can work to a depth of 500mm, allowing one operator with one machine to clear blocks of land without requiring an army of excavators and dump trucks to remove stumps and put them into piles, which still need to be disposed of.

"We’re finding more and more customers are seeing the benefits of this system," says Ray Copland from Rotorua-based Active VMA, who is the New Zealand distributor for FAE machines.

"Once the customers start using a mulcher, stump cutter, or forestry tiller, they and their customers instantly start to see the advantages of this technology and how much more cost-effective it is compared to what they were doing before."

A range of self-propelled PT tracked carriers are available from FAE through Active VMA, from 175 to 500hp, that can be supplied with forestry mulchers and tillers.

For those working on steep terrain, buyers can also choose from two recently launched remote-controlled self-propelled units, the RCU 55 (55hp) and RCU 75 (75hp). The larger of the two machines is available with single grouser steel tracks, making it an ideal mulcher for challenging areas.
