The unit is being run in series with a 65-foot EvoQuip TC65 tracked stacker, also supplied by MSC.

The Colt 1600 scalper features variable throw on the screenbox to give it a more aggressive shake, screen angling, and the option of either two-way or three-way split configuration.

"The plant has been configured exactly to the required product and production throughput specs and both MSC and the customer are delighted with the results," says Dan Meikle, MSC general manager.

High capacity

Screen media on the Colt 1600 scalper can be changed quickly, making it possible to produce different products at short notice, as the need arises. It also comes with a feeder stop/start remote for the loading operator.

MSC says the plant has the capacity to process at a rate of up to 600 tonnes per hour, take up to a 600mm rock, and being a tracked screen, is easy to move where most needed on-site. It also comes with an apron feeder as standard.

"The new 1600 has been a great investment for us," says Joe Brightwell of Tikokino Contractors. "It has tripled our production rates, and we’ve also invested in an EvoQuip tracked conveyor to keep up with the production of the screen.

It enables us to keep up with demand for product and also move from site to site and get jobs done quickly and efficiently."

Three screenbox choices

The highly aggressive screen box is at the heart of the EvoQuip Colt range of screening plants, with the G-Force’ acceleration enabling them to process a wide variety of products.

The screenbox can be ordered in three different configurations. It comes standard spec with a single shaft, variable throw screenbox but can also be ordered with a triple shaft screenbox for an extremely aggressive shake and a flip flow technology screenbox for very wet and sticky product.

Options and applications

In line with Terex EvoQuip’s ‘Think Green, Think EvoQuip’ ethos, the Colt 1600 is also available with dual power technology, giving flexibility to be powered by an external power supply or the standard on-board engine.

The range also includes the smaller Colt 600, 800, and 1000 models and —along with the high-capacity, versatile heavy-duty Colt 1600 scalper — are specifically designed to work in primary and secondary screening applications, such as quarry and mining, construction demolition waste, sand, gravel, compost, topsoil, coal, wood, bark, and green waste.

Decades of experience

MSC runs a hire fleet of screens, crushers, and conveyors and has acquired the knowledge of their products and industry applications through three decades of hands-on experience.

"When commissioning equipment, we take as much time as is required to make sure the throughput and quality of the finished product is maximised, the machine is set up and tuned to its full potential, and the customer is fully appraised of all the features of the plant and is confident with all aspects of operation," says Dan.

"We’re confident in the performance of the EvoQuip Colt scalping screen range and welcome machine demonstrations and site visits New Zealand-wide."
