Product feature: Morooka 36-degree tipping dumpers

The Morooka dump trucks are ideal for urban developments and provide a safe working environment for operators

Where previously, the Japanese-made off-road dumpers and carriers sporadically arrived in the country on an as-required basis, Magnum say they have stepped things up a notch by making stock available from their Auckland yard.

"Well, that was the game plan," says Magnum Equipment director Liam Field, adding, "Interest in the Morookas has meant equipment on the ground has been slim at times, which while good for business has meant additional stock has been imported to ensure enough machinery is available when it’s needed."

New models

One upside to the popularity of the low ground pressure machines is the early adoption of two additional Morooka models—the MST1000VDR and MST200VDR. These follow the initial release of the first two models, the MST1500VDR and MST2200VDR models to the New Zealand market.

"We feel we’re covering quite a few bases now with the four models, so customers can choose a carrying capacity of 2.5 to 11 tonnes," says Liam.

Tipping ability

Liam is quick to point out that the Morooka dump trucks are unique in that they can tip at any point of the compass without needing to turn around and disturb the ground beneath them. This makes them ideal for urban developments and provides a safe working environment by keeping reversing to a minimum.

"These are perfect for busy sites as the driver is always facing forward," Liam says. "The 360-degree tipping capability and the low ground pressure from the wide tracks are making them a popular choice for a lot of forward-thinking contractors," he says.

The smallest Morooka in the range delivers a 2.5-tonne maximum payload while giving 360 degrees of rotation, backing cameras, durable rubber tracks, HST Drive System, and an economical hydrostatic transmission.

It can be ideal for small urban developments, walking track or cycleway builds, where space is at a premium.

Filling the mid-range section is the MST1000VDR. Like the larger models Magnum Equipment has available, this mid-sized model has a generous carrying capacity of 5.5 tonnes, allowing for use on small to medium-sized projects.

With the 360 degrees of tipping and wide tracks like the other Morooka models, ground disturbance is kept to a minimum.

This model delivers a sizeable seven-tonne load with a 360-degree rotation, backing cameras, durable rubber tracks, HST Drive System, and an economical hydrostatic transmission. Like all the fully-enclosed cabbed models, it comes with a full air-conditioning system.

MST2200VDR

The heaviest hitter in Magnum Equipment’s portfolio provides an 11-tonne payload, with 360-degree rotation, backing cameras, durable rubber tracks, HST Drive System, and a hydrostatic transmission. This machine is designed to deliver maximum capacity at an economical running cost.
