Product profile: Bobcat attachments

Check out Bobcat attachments' planer, sweeper, and laser-guided graders

Bobcat® attachments create a versatile road and pavement maintenance machine for all stages of paving and repair. Prepare the site, transport material, and remove rubble—all with the same machine.

Combination buckets come in handy throughout the process with material handling and quick cleanups. Switch to the planer to work on the pavement, attach the industrial grapple bucket to discard large, odd-shaped objects, and then change to the sweeper for the finishing touch to the cleanup.

Bobcat Company says their skidsteer loaders and compact track loaders are built to deliver unmatched attachment performance, versatility, and power.
Three attachments that can bring great efficiency and profitability to road and pavement contractors are planers, sweepers, and laser-guided graders.

Cut and mill concrete and asphalt with the controlled removal process of the planer attachment. Planers can be used for continuous milling or smaller repairs.

The milling process involves low angle, high-velocity blows in a controlled pattern that uniformly chips pavement. Depth, width, and slope control are set and maintained by the operator. Milled material can be immediately recycled.

Bobcat says the planer attachment is less expensive to maintain and more manoeuvrable than dedicated planers. Also, the planer attachment is versatile and durable, delivering high torque for maximum cutting and milling performance.

Its features include:

  • Match uneven pavement surfaces
  • Clean up around larger miller machines
  • Mill around manholes
  • Taper roadway edges

Sweep a clean path easily and efficiently with the hydraulically-driven sweeper
(angle broom) attachment. Quick removal jobs can be completed without damaging pavement surfaces.

The broom bristles have a waved design, which according to Bobcat, delivers more surface clearing ability. This clears a cleaner path and can sweep more debris in one pass. The angle broom attachment is compact, manoeuvrable, and easy to operate, replacing manual labour and hand brooms. Features of the sweeper include:

  • Clearing dirt, dried mud, light snow and other debris
  • Effective on roads, driveways, footpaths, parking lots, loading docks, warehouses, and more

Automatic Grade Control—Laser

Bobcat automatic grading solutions can deliver more accurate grading results within less time and using less labour. Choose from laser-guided systems and sonic/slope systems.

Operators can increase their efficiency and reduce fatigue, as they can focus on operating the machine’s travel rather than the blade position. Fewer people are also needed because there’s no need for a crew to continually check grade on the job site. It’s as simple as clicking a button on the loader controls to activate the automatic system.

With accuracies better than +/- ¼", automatic grade control systems can also save on expensive finishes such as concrete.

Laser-Guided Systems

A laser transmitter is used to emit a plane of laser light across the job site. The plane mirrors the completed job site and is used as a reference point to ensure the blade is on-grade at all times. The blade moves up and down automatically to keep the base materials on-grade.

Laser transmitters and rod-mounted laser receivers can also quickly determine the amount of material that needs to be added or removed from the site. Features can include:

  • Accurate finish grading
  • Efficient rough grading
  • Concrete flatwork
  • Bobcat Company attachments can give one machine the ability to solve many problems for road and pavement contractors.
