Scania land 195 new units into NZ

In what’s believed to be the largest consignment of heavy trucks ever into NZ, Scania NZ recently landed nearly 200 new trucks into Ports of Auckland in a single month

The company says the 195 units — straight off the factory floor from Scania headquarters in Södertälje, Sweden — represent the latest in fuel-efficient, low-emission Euro 6 engines on the market, many of which will be replacing older, higher emission diesel engine trucks on our roads.

Scania NZ’s director of sales, Deon Stephens, says the consignment volume reflects the massive demand for truck transport that began soon after COVID lockdowns.

"Trucking and the trucking industry really proved its value across New Zealand during and after the COVID period, and that demand has only continued to grow.

"Responding to the demand from our customers for trucks was subsequently compounded by the supply and logistics issues experienced worldwide, but this record-breaking consignment goes some way to meet that pent-up demand.

Plus, we still have a significant number of units due to arrive before the end of the year. "Our many customers — from single truck owner-operators to large fleet operators — can’t wait to get behind the wheel of their new vehicles," says Deon.
