PepsiCo goes hydrogen
The officially launched Taurus is expected to be making deliveries with a semi-trailer for PepsiCo around Brisbane in the next few months
Sydney-based hydrogen supplier and producer, Pure Hydrogen, and truck supplier, HDrive, officially launched the Taurus at a media event recently.
The truck is said to be Australia’s first hydrogen-powered prime mover and is expected to be making deliveries with a semi-trailer for PepsiCo around Brisbane in the next few months.
Said to be designed in Australia as a new build, the 6×2 Taurus bears a striking resemblance (right down to the steering wheel) to Wisdom-branded vehicles manufactured by Chinese manufacturer Wisdom Motors, a company founded in 2019.
A media statement says components used include Hendrickson suspension, Ballard Power fuel cells, and Hexagon hydrogen fuel cylinders. The truck is said to have a range of up to 400km, extendable up to 1000km and refuelling time is up to 12 minutes.
