Kumeu Truck Show 2016
DOW checks out the inaugural Truck and Machinery show held at the Kumeu Showgrounds during a Novermber weekend
Karen Lloyd, along with Amy Glynan, finally translated an idea that was suggested to her many years ago by the late Victor Lendich into a reality.
There was a huge turnout of trucks and machinery on display with a special Show ‘n’ Shine event. This had the drivers with cleaning cloths in hand spending hours polishing up their rigs, hoping to win a prize, and with 17 categories, there was sufficient opportunity.
With a large area dedicated to entertain children, fire truck rides, and dozens of trucks, there was plenty for everyone to see and enjoy. With adult tickets priced at $10, kids at $5, and with free parking, it made for a fairly cheap day out as large crowds of people constantly came through the gates.
The show will be held in the same location next year on 11 12 November, although, there might be some changes to the format to encourage more trucks and machinery to attend from around the country.
