Check out these pics from this year’s Matamata Truck & Machinery Festival.

The Matamata truck and Machinery Festival was held at Bedford Park, Matamata. There were over 90 trucks on display with some having travelled all the way from the South Island. The standard of trucks presented on the day was excellent with a steady stream of people checking out the trucks and machinery on display.

Several trucks were kept busy all day providing rides for the kids. There were food stalls and a sausage sizzle put on by the local fire brigade. The K&S Freighters Argosy provided a great stage for a fine display of model trucks. The detail on some of these models was outstanding with many having been modelled on actual working trucks. A lot of hours went into the construction of the models with trailers and bodies having to be built from scratch.

The prize-giving was held in front of the Matamata sports club as the skies started to darken. With the threat of rain looming for the duration of the prize-giving, most drivers chose to leave shortly after it finished as a few showers started to appear.

Although it wasn’t long before the clouds disappeared and the sun reappeared, allowing an enthusiastic bunch of truck photographers a chance to grab pictures of the departing trucks. I would like to say a big thank you to all the drivers that stopped and took the time to allow their trucks to be photographed by myself and the other truck spotters.
