The new heavy-duty Iveco Astra HHD9 truck is due to land in Christchurch around Labour weekend

AdvanceQuip NZ recently confirmed they will be soon showcasing the new heavy-duty Iveco Astra HHD9 truck, which is due to land in Christchurch around Labour weekend.

Following some internal training by Iveco Astra equipment specialists at the local AdvanceQuip branch, the unit will be delivered to Isaacs McLeans Island Road quarry for site testing and familiarisation in a busy working environment.

The distributor says they plan to invite industry-related stakeholders to see the
off-highway dump truck in action in a low-key product launch, where visitors can speak directly with Astra specialists.

The first arriving truck features an 8x6 configuration, with a GVM (gross vehicle mass) of approximately 60 tonnes, allowing for a payload of 40 tonnes. The Astra HHD9 has a GCM (gross combination mass) of 90 tonnes.

Pulling power is provided by a 540hp (402kW) FPT Cursor 13, which is manufactured by CNH Industrial, owners of Iveco, Case, and New Holland among others.

The Astra HHD9 transmission is a ZF-made 16-speed automated (AS-Tronic), with intarder, which its makers say can relieve service brake wear by up to 90%.

"The bin is a struck 20 cubic metres, which is three metres larger than a standard 40-tonne articulated dump truck, which normally has 17m3 a capacity bin," AdvanceQuip marketing manager Paul Forrest says.

Interested parties can see the new truck first hand by arrangement. Contact Paul at paul@advancequip.co.nz for more details.
