LDV displays new T60

The LDV brand say they are about to step things up in the popular ute market, when the LDV T60 is released to the public in July 2017.
Taupo-based Great Lakes Motor Distributors, who along with LDV also distribute the SsangYong brand nationwide through 19 retail outlets, have recently brought in a left-hand drive T60 model to allow for local manufacture of accessories, such as tow-bars, tray liners, and nudge bars.
Powered by a VW Motori-sourced 2.8-litre four-cylinder 110kW diesel engine, through a six-speed auto (six-speed manual also available), the four-wheel drive T60 double-cab will be initially available in two variants: the Comfort and Luxury models. At a press event Deals on Wheels attended to view the T60, company chairman Rick Cooper said the entry-level Comfort model would be priced at $29,990 (incl. GST), with the Luxury model "somewhere under $40,000".
"These vehicles will be popular with companies that need to provide utes to employees," Rick says.
The T60 comes with a host of ‘standard’ extras as seen on the displayed Luxury model, such as 360 degree and rear-view cameras, 10-inch touchscreen monitor, leather trim, 220w power inverter, along with six airbags. Size-wise, the T60 shapes up big, being 1809mm wide and having an overall length of 5365mm. The cargo bed has a significant depth at 530mm, with a length of 2330mm by 1510mm across.
A consensus from those who have viewed the display vehicle is that the T60, with its competitive pricing and numerous driver-comfort features, will have an impact on the larger ute market currently dominated by the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.
Rick says the first 20 vehicles will arrive in New Zealand during July, followed by 60 in August. After that, quantities will be available as required.
