Pilehire accommodates everything from drill rigs, excavators, and skid steer attachments to tremie sets and transport solutions

Thirteen years ago, a unique event led to the inception of the Pilehire business. The last lots of leftover paint in odd blue and Caterpillar yellow were purchased at an auction and mixed, the result of which was the Pilehire green colour.

At that time, entrepreneur Ken Parfoot ran his boutique engineering firm. Left with inventory from a large piling job where the tools were deemed too heavy, he was asked by Fletchers if he would hire them out.

Six months later, they returned and again, the gear was back on hire. From those small beginnings, the business has grown into the niche Pilehire specialist company for the construction and earthmoving industry.

Pilehire can now accommodate everything from drill rigs, excavators, and skid steer attachments to tremie sets and transport solutions.

The business stocks more than 5000 drilling attachments and their state-of-the-art hanger system provides the agility to fit attachments to almost every excavator, providing the complete solution to the industry needs.

Options range from ‘hire’, ‘buy’, and ‘long-term lease’ to ‘own’, with solutions dependent on the need to complete projects to the highest standards and tailored to meet the financial demands of each project.

Pilehire continues to grow with its customers and ensure reliability and access to plant and equipment, with support from an experienced customer service team.

With branches in Auckland, Wiri, Manukau City, and Dairy Flat and its own engineering business Parken Engineering, Pilehire also runs a transport solution to provide timely delivery and pick-up from sites.

Last month’s opening of the Wellington branch in Grenada North is yet another example of Pilehire following the needs of its customers to service the lower North Island and give machinery owners the ability to diversify what services they can supply to their clients.
