“Get one here to me by the end of the week.” That was the immediate reaction from AB Equipment customer Grant Marshall of Timaru Hire when he was told that Bobcat had recently released a 1.8-tonne zero-tail swing excavator, and that they were now available in New Zealand.

Marshall didn’t take much convincing to make a decision on the new Bobcat E20 either. "It was the tail swing that did it but the fact that it can be towed and was well priced also helped," says Marshall.

"To date we have good feedback from our customers. They have all said that the Bobcat E20 is simple to use and has better visibility. The expandable tracks has also made much it easier for them to tackle more confined areas than was previously possible with other similar-sized excavator models. This in itself is opening up more opportunities for Timaru Hire."

Timaru Hire has nine excavators in its fleet, seven of which are Bobcats. You can understand Marshall’s excitement because prior to this, Bobcat was unable to supply a zero-tail swing model in the smaller Bobcat units.

"I am a big fan of Bobcats and with the inclusion of the Bobcat E20 excavator we now have a variety of excavator options amongst a wide range of sizes. It gives us something different in the fleet which now gives our customers a real choice."

The Bobcat E20 that was delivered to Timaru Hire was supplied with trench, weed and digging buckets but can be fitted with accessories from other suppliers if required.

Positive attributes

The best forces combined with the best stability, enables you to perform any job with ease. Furthermore, if you need to take a more gentle approach, the smooth hydraulics provides precise control to perform these tasks.

The retractable undercarriage reduces the Bobcat excavator E20’s width to less than one metre for working in confined areas. The automatic swing brake, in conjunction with four tie-down points integrated into the upper structure, makes the E20 exceptionally easy and safe to operate.

The operator’s station is not only big and comfortable with excellent all-round visibility; it also provides easy access to all the controls. All daily service checks are accessible through the rear bonnet. What’s more, the Bobcat E20 excavator can be configured to your particular requirements.
