About 200 trucks converged on the Whakatu coolstore of ENZA Turners and Growers for the eleventh biannual Hawke’s Bay Trucking for Child Cancer truck show.
About 200 trucks converged on the Whakatu coolstore of ENZA Turners and Growers for the eleventh biannual Hawke's Bay
Trucking for Child Cancer truck show. Supported by dozens of volunteers and sponsors, the event starts with convoys of big rigs leaving the Napier and Hastings Mitre 10 Mega stores, along with some lucky passengers with convoy ride tickets.
Once at the Whakatu site, many of the truckies carried on tirelessly, giving $2 truck rides for kids and families around the block.
Also at the show was the Hawke's Bay round of the National Excavator Operator competition. Two-time national champion Brett Hollyman, from Downers, was kept busy running and scoring the event. The top three finalists (in no particular order) were Bart Mulder, Steve Galbraith and Brent Taylor, with the winner to be announced 15 November at the annual dinner.
