Southland Farm Services is an Invercargill company that has operated Yuchai excavators since 2005, and purchased a 13.5-tonne Yuchai YC135 excavator in 2008. The machines are used for the works associated with dairy conversions and farm water systems, and Mark McMillan says Yuchais are reliable, strong, and cost effective machines.

Southland Farm Services worked with John Giltrap of Diggalink to design a special system that fitted a vibrating plough to the YC135 with a front mounted blade whilst still allowing the boom free to dig for trough levelling, placement and trenching. The result is a low-cost and efficient system with less damage to paddocks.
