Features

Caterpillar says a number of features extend the 315DL's versatility. The machine comes ready for fast, economical installation of auxiliary hydraulic circuits, and the Cat Tool Control System stores hydraulic flow and pressure for as many as 10 different work tools.

A selection of value added options are available on the 315DL, including AccuGrade grade control system and Product Link (a machine tracking and asset management tool).

The cab

The 315DL features a spacious and comfortable cab, quiet and well-ventilated, with controls including an automated boom and swing priority function that selects the proper mode based on joystick movement.

A new monitor relays information in text form to improve communication between the operator and the machine.

Engine and power

Quick, powerful and efficient the new excavator is equipped with a Cat C4.2 engine with ACERT technology. The net horsepower increase allows the use of higher hydraulic pressures for reduced cycle times, increased breakout force and greater lift capacity.

Owner says…

ISO Limited has purchased two new Caterpillar 315DL excavators; the first of which is performing log stowage duties at the Port of Gisborne.

ISO Limited's machinery manager Chris Robinson says, "The Cat 315DL has a purpose built front end, giving us a task suited machine for log stowage in the ships hold. It's a harsh environment where safety of personnel is paramount.

"The 315 features a specialised Gough Engineering guarding package designed to ISO's requirements. This includes an ISO-designed, Gough Engineering-produced modified boom and dipper arm. It also features bolt-on guarding including ROPS that will be utilised over the life of more than one machine."
