Product feature: Cobra Attachments

Cobra Attachments are supplying Cangini sorting grapples for machines from 1.7 to 14 tonnes

It’s always a great debate as to what is the best option for material handling with an excavator. And for those shopping around, there certainly are plenty of options to look over.

Hard-earned money can be spent on hydraulic thumbs, grabs, grab buckets, and grapples, and there are plenty of pluses and minuses whichever way it’s looked at, but always the top consideration must be selecting a product that’s suited for purpose.

It’s here Cobra Attachments say they are making a mark in the industry with their large selection of attachments suited for numerous purposes. One type, in particular, has seen keen interest from customers and that’s the Cangini sorting grapples range.

Made in Italy and built from high-strength, wear-resistant steel with pins, the sorting grapple comes complete with a relief valve to protect the rotator motor from damage.

A few examples of the various applications the Cangini sorting grapples can handle are demolition, placing blocks, bulk material handling, tree work, and building rock walls.

Cobra Attachments says one of the advantages with a Cangini sorting grapple is the shorter tip radius makes it a lot easier to load trucks when the grapple is fully crowded in.

Each grapple comes with the ability to customise the attachment to suit individual’s requirements, with some options listed below:

  • Hydraulic rotator for the smaller models and a slew ring rotator for larger ones
  • PG jaws are more heavy-duty for demolition work and the PF are more suited for general-purpose material handling
  • G.E.T teeth are ideal for grabbing rocks or trees
  • Two-hose auxiliary kit; if a machine has only one auxiliary, this optional built-in solenoid valve will allow grapple rotation control from inside the cab
  • Curb handling kit designed to grip curbs with less chance of damaging or dropping them.
  • Toothed sides to enable a better grip onto treesClosed sides give the grapple a clamshell design, which is great for handling loose materials

Currently, Cobra Attachments are supplying Cangini sorting grapples for machines from 1.7 to 14 tonnes, with a 20-tonne model arriving in 2021. There’s also a new website coming soon at cobraattach.co.nz.
