Product feature: engcon tiltrotator

engcon tiltrotators, available from Global Survey, ensure higher productivity, less time spent on each job, and less wear and tear on equipment

The engcon ‘sandwich’ set-up is specifically designed to save time. It means that the tiltrotator can be easily removed when not needed and breakout torque can be maximised for plain digging and lifting capacity when operators need it.

With a direct-mounted tiltrotator, which is not easily removed, the machine is out of action when maintenance is required. With this ‘sandwich’ design, the excavator can keep on working and the tiltrotator can simply be removed when it needs servicing.

Similarly, the engcon EC-Oil system has a number of time-saving benefits and automatically connects hydraulics, power, and central lubrication between the quick coupler of the excavator and under the tiltrotator. This adds the ability to quickly switch hydraulic tools from the cab or decouple the tiltrotator when more breakout force is needed.

Engcon says that with the EC-Oil system on the excavator hitch, on the top of the tiltrotator, below the tiltrotator, and on the tool itself, it’s possible to switch from tiltrotator mounted hydraulic attachments such as sorting grabs, compactors, or buckets to direct-mounted tools, such as a hammer, quickly at full machine pressure, without having to leave the cab.

"The EC-Oil system comes as standard at no extra cost for six-tonne machines and above (engcon EC206). It’s a real time-saver and a safer, more efficient way of working," says Andrew Browning, machine control and engcon specialist—Global Survey.

The minutes add up

The engcon EC-Oil system has a number of time-saving benefits

It’s easy not to notice the time it takes over a day to change buckets, grapples, and other attachments, but those 10 to 15 minutes or so per change can soon add up.

Global Survey says there are obvious time savings with the engcon EC-Oil system where you can swop hydraulic tools in just 10 seconds from the comfort of the cab.

"It’s a really phenomenal piece of kit and I’d urge any operator reading this to make an appointment to try one out," says Richard Collins from Collins Plant Hire.

The result is that it changes the way operators work, engcon says. When you can easily change attachments with no downtime, operators complete jobs in a logical order that suits the project, rather than having to group certain tasks together based on whatever attachment they have on the machine at the time.
