The 2022 Alexandra Truck Show was held in late September, smack bang in the middle of the week-long Central Otago Blossom Festival

In years gone by, Mother Nature has been kind to this event, and this year, it was no different with a brisk but beautifully clear spring day for the show and parade.

The trucks gathered early on the Saturday morning at the Fulton Hogan yard on the outskirts of Alexandra for judging and for the general public to get an ‘up and close’ look at the smart gear on display.

Late in the morning, the ‘Star of the Show’ was announced before the trucks fired up and a hum of diesel engines saw the exhibitors on their way in a parade around the crowd-lined streets of Alexandra, which culminates with the Blossom Festival float parade.

The convoy then returned to the starting point, where the remainder of the prizes were awarded to the deserving winners. A little over 60 trucks attended the event, which was a bit down on numbers from years gone by, however, the standard of the trucks on display was second to none.

Booths Transport was the principal sponsor of the event this year, and their presence and commitment to the show was most impressive. The Coveted ‘Star of the Show’ Award was taken away by Booths Transport SI (formerly Summerland Express) contractor Melx Linehaul Ltd K200 Kenworth, which still sported the Summerland Express livery.
