Best Eatery on the road competition winner

This year’s competition has closed, and DOW readers have made their decision.

Even though a number of eateries took part in the competition, the fight for the top spot was shared by five eateries: Rangitaiki Tavern (Taupo), Gumboot Manor (Taihape), Matamau Diner (Dannevirke), Cuba St Bakehouse (Palmerston North), Dunsandel Stop Shop (Dunsandel), and Bafe Bakery (Lumsden).

Amateur food experts sent hundreds of votes in, with only one vote separating the top two eateries going into the final run of the competition. The last two weeks saw a huge influx of votes, and the top food stop for 2014 strode ahead from the rest of the crowd.

The Ed will be taking a trip to the two winning eateries in the next few weeks to present each with an award.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to the many other eateries that participated.
