Gough Analytical processes 100K samples in a year

In 2018, Gough Analytical surpassed a long sought-after operational milestone—100,000 samples processed in a calendar year

Originally set up as a Caterpillar scheduled oil sampling laboratory in 1973, Gough Analytical has grown to a team of 12 technicians, lubrication engineers, and analysts and is at the forefront of New Zealand’s heavy equipment fluid testing.

Analytical’s manager Ian Pendle says, "The 100,000th sample per year milestone is significant and demonstrates how the increased investment in automation into our laboratory facility over the last three years is allowing us to become more efficient in our operation and improve customer experience."

To commemorate the milestone, the Analytical team attributed the 100,000th sample to ‘lucky’ customer Horokiwi Quarries and presented a plaque and mounted Caterpillar 980K Wheel Loader model to Ross Baker, Horokiwi’s company manager. The milestone sample was from the transmission of their Cat 980K Wheel Loader, which has had 91 total samples taken from it since new in March 2015.

Horokiwi Quarries understands the benefits of preventative maintenance and had more than 200 samples from their fleet analysed in 2018.

Gough Analytical tests a variety of fluids including engine oil, gear oil, hydraulic oil, coolants, grease, diesel fuel, diesel exhaust fluid, and filter debris and supports industries as diverse as agriculture, automotive, aviation, earthmoving, marine, transport, military, oil companies and power generation.
