More than 250 new trucks have been sold in NZ, says GMSV, as they announce the new ZR2 Silverado

Since the launch of the new GM Specialty Vehicles brand in New Zealand in November 2020, the company says more than 250 of the impressive new trucks have been sold around the country (end of July 2022), meaning Kiwis have purchased an average four Chevrolet Silverados every week.

"Key to the success of Chevrolet Silverado is the untold performance, functionality, and versatility on offer. It’s practical in a truck-like sense and remarkably well specified, delivering power, performance, and renowned towing capability," says general manager of GMSV New Zealand, Matthew Taylor.

Of the three different Silverado models available in New Zealand, two offer a 6.2-litre V8 and the 2500 heavy-duty packs a 6.6-litre V8 Duramax turbo-diesel powerplant into its large engine bay. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

GMSV has just announced the impending arrival of a new model to the range to coincide with the new MY23 Silverado. The company says the new ZR2 will deliver next-level off-road capability right from the factory and has been validated in the gruelling ‘Best in the Desert’ off-road racing series.

Among feature highlights, it comes complete with front and rear e-lockers and Multimatic DSSV dampers, 33-inch mud terrain tyres, and new high-approach steel cut front bumper designed for off-road strength, durability, and clearance. First arrivals are anticipated to arrive sometime between April and June 2023.
