Designed as an intermediary step between driver and driverless transportation, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its Mercedes Euro-X concept truck recently

Not to be confused with a number of other ‘X’ offerings from the German manufacturer, this model is said to bridge the time gap until fully autonomous heavy vehicles take to the world’s highways.

Sporting an arrow-like design to decrease wind resistance and improve mileage, the driving station is positioned in the lower part of the windowless cab where the driver monitors the vehicle’s systems; having the ability to take control of the truck during emergencies or when required.

No information is currently available on the type of power system that would propel such a vehicle, but drawings seem to indicate electricity could be one such method.
