Designed and manufactured by Asphalt Zipper USA, the ZipMiner will be distributed throughout Australasia by Boss Attachments

With the release of the ZipMiner, mining companies now have the ability to turn their existing old loaders into front-line surface miners.

Distributed throughout Australasia by Boss Attachments, the company reports that the 'unique attachment' is powerful, easy to use, affordable, and built for the harshest mining environments.

"This highly versatile attachment allows the operator to be heads up and mine in the forwards direction," Boss NZ's managing director Paul Herbison says.

"It is built tough for the harshest mining environments and to the typical high standards we have come to expect from USA-built equipment."

Designed and manufactured by Asphalt Zipper USA—said to be one of the world leaders in portable site preparation and surface mining attachments—the ZipMiner is the result of five years of rigorous trialling and is backed by 25 years of ongoing product development, its manufacturers say.

The ZipMiner is powered by an inter-cooled Cummins diesel engine and its makers say it can pulverise 1828mm wide and 330mm deep material in a single pass.

The attachment is said to deliver positive benefits across the following wide range of applications:

  • Surface mining of gypsum, anhydrite, oil shale, limerock, coal, sandstone, Waitemata series sandstone
  • Site preparation in base rock environment
  • Creating aggregate/road base
  • Constructing and maintaining rock-based haul roads and council roads

"Everything about the Zip Miner is quality," Paul says. "It's a real game changer and makes site preparation and surface mining so much easier and much more cost-effective."
