Scania NZ to open for business in January 2019

Scania is creating a wholly-owned subsidiary business in New Zealand from 1 January 2019

Scania New Zealand, which will open its doors in the New Year, will be responsible for the importation, distribution, and sales of new Scania heavy trucks and buses as well as parts and business services.

Talking about the new subsidiary, Mattias Lundholm, Scania New Zealand’s incoming managing director, says, "Scania New Zealand will focus on growing our new vehicle sales as well as driving the shift towards a sustainable transport future.

"We are investing in the future of Scania in New Zealand because we believe there is potential for us to offer more operators our efficient, safe, and profitable tailor-made truck solutions for their transport needs.

"In the area of alternative fuels, Scania is a world leader in the provision of vehicles able to run on biodiesel, ethanol, CNG, and LNG. This, along with the development of hybrid electric trucks and buses, means Scania has a wide array of environmentally sustainable products to offer New Zealand transport operators. With the government’s climate change agenda, we expect to see continued growth."

CablePrice, the current distributors of Scania trucks in New Zealand, will become Scania New Zealand’s key provider of aftersales service and in-service support to customers through its existing dealer network.

"We have had a successful partnership with CablePrice spanning many years, and we look forward to continuing this," Mattias says.

CablePrice managing director and chief operating officer Pat Ward says his company would continue to provide its quality aftersales service to Scania customers. The company will also continue to carry out the physical warehousing and distribution of Scania parts to the dealer network and preparing products for delivery, as a contracted service to Scania New Zealand.

CablePrice technicians are world-renowned for their technical capability; proven by the fact the workshop technician team at CablePrice Christchurch is the current Scania global Top Team.

"The quality of knowledge and technical ability CablePrice offers its Scania customers is the best in the world," Pat says.
