IVECO celebrates diversity with fundraising event

Iveco’s Auckland dealership organised a ‘Diversi-TEA’ fundraising morning tea to celebrate diversity in the workplace

Iveco’s Auckland dealership was a sea of pink recently as employees were encouraged to wear the colour to a ‘Diversi-TEA’ fundraising morning tea, where staff and guests enjoyed pink-themed dishes.

The event was attended by senior IVECO executives, including Australia and New Zealand business director, Bruce Healy, who addressed the event, discussing the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

According to research, New Zealand has high rates of workplace bullying that affect one in five workers, and this needed addressing, Bruce says.

"Part of what makes countries like New Zealand so special is cultural and lifestyle diversity. It’s important to embrace the differences between us all.

"Aside from it being a basic right that everyone feels part of a stable and secure working environment free of bullying and harassment, diversity in the workplace makes for a much richer workforce.

"From a business perspective, having exposure to a wider range of cultures and experiences can also prove beneficial," he says. The funds raised at the morning tea were donated to the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.

Bruce said it was pleasing to see the way that IVECO New Zealand employees had embraced the occasion.

"Staff participation rate was 100% and I think that there’s a genuine interest among employees to stamp-out workplace bullying," he says. "We look forward to implementing workplace initiatives recommended by the Pink Shirt Day movement and will again support the event next year."
