New transmission to broaden appeal New transmission to broaden appeal

Isuzu New Zealand has added the option of a six-speed automated manual transmission to 4x2 factory-built tipper models in the Isuzu N and F Series range.

"These developments will help strengthen Isuzu’s dominant position in the light and medium duty segments," national sales manager of Isuzu New Zealand, Dave Ballantyne, says.

"The N and F Series range are already by far and away the most popular in their respective segments, commanding market share in 2016 of 46 percent and 38 percent respectively, and this optional enhancement will add to their undoubted widespread appeal."

Isuzu says that traditionally, the domain of manual transmissions, the light- and medium-duty segments have come in for special attention, as there has been an increasing desire from customers for the option of an automated manual transmission option.

"We have seen increasing uptake of these transmissions across other models in the range and have decided to add AMT to the tippers," Isuzu NZ general manager, Colin Muir, says.

"The proven reliability and ease of operation of the transmission in other applications has generated this customer enquiry. We want to satisfy this demand so have put the customer first and worked with Isuzu Japan to tailor a solution for users here in New Zealand."

Isuzu models available with the new option are NLR250S, NPR350M, NQR500M, and FRR500 factory-built tippers.

"Dealers are now taking orders and we anticipate there to be a significant uptake of these new models," Dave says.

"We are confident of growing market share in these two segments and look forward to introducing our customers to the advantages of this new transmission."
