Last calls for the Hino tough competition
Hino NZ reminds truckers they have until the end of August to show them their toughest Hino truck before the competition closes
The Hino Tough competition is heading into the last few weeks, so DOW editor Randolph Covich and Hino NZ general manager, Michael Doeg, spent time recently going over some of the entries.
"Already, we have seen some serious candidates for the top prize, but we are still of the opinion that there are more possibilities out there," Michael says.
To help the judging team narrow the field down, Michael will be calling in some Hino subject matter experts to offer their opinion on what exactly ‘tough’ means.
"A truck that has been around the clock numerous times is one person’s idea of tough, whereas another person may say a truck that has not been looked after very well but still works hard every day is a tough truck. It can be a matter of opinion," he says.
DOW’s Ed points out one truck that is more than 10 years old but looks near new.
"One could even say this is a really tough truck, as it has more than 15,000 hours on the clock, is more than 10 years, and looks like it’s just been driven off the showroom floor."
There is one thing the judging team agrees upon and that is the competition is fierce and selecting a winner will be difficult.
The owner of the winning truck and their partner will get to attend the New Zealand Transport Hall of Fame award event as guests of Hino NZ, with all travel and associated expenses paid for.
Hino owners have until 31 August 2017 to submit their entry on Facebook by searching ‘Hino Distributors NZ Ltd’ or going to the Hino NZ website at here.
