Dean Middleton headed down to The Great Wellington Truck Show this year to capture all the action

Significant overnight and morning rain threatened to derail the best-laid plans for The Great Wellington Truck Show this year, but with the weather forecasted to be clear, it was full steam ahead for the bi-annual event.

It was also a damp start to the day for the Convoy, which left Seaview around 8am travelling up through Hutt Valley to the Trentham Memorial Park in Upper Hutt to park up for the show.
When the rain had settled, there were more than 170 trucks parked up at arguably one of the most idyllic truck show venues on the New Zealand truck show circuit.

Drivers were out in force with rags cleaning off the water marks to bring the trucks back to their pristine pre-rain condition while the sun finally broke through the clouds and turned on a near-perfect afternoon.

The show was organised by the Silverstream Lions Club again this year and once again, the proceeds went to the Life Flight Trust who operate the local Westpac rescue helicopter and air ambulance service.

Along with the rows and rows of immaculate trucks, there were trade stalls, kids’ rides, classic cars, and other displays, which culminated in a great day out for truckies, their families, and the general public who came along to check out the festivities.
