The 2018 TMC Trailers Trucking Industry Show was held on Friday, 9 and Saturday, 10 March

The new venue this year for the bi-annual event was the Christchurch A&P Showgrounds, which is only a few kilometres from the original venue and was still a good central location with plenty of room to host the show.

The events on Friday included a Trade Show and Industry Day as well as a Careers Showcase where numerous local schools attended in an effort to attract the next generation into the transport industry.

Saturday saw Show ’N’ Shine Truck show and Christchurch turned on a near perfect day to display some 250 trucks that attended. What makes this number of trucks even more impressive is that this event allows combinations and most of the entrants had their trailers in tow.

Thousands of people flooded through the gates during the day and not only enjoyed viewing the endless rows of trucks but also took in the working displays, trade stands, kids’ zone, and bouncy castle. All the proceeds raised were donated to Ronald McDonald House South Island and Child Cancer Foundation.

The prestigious Truck of The Show trophy was awarded to the immaculate Goodman Fielder-contracted Scania of A&L Coombs from Dunedin. Including the trucks on the trade stands there was reputed to be more than 300 trucks in attendance at the showgrounds on Saturday, which must surely cement this event as the country’s largest truck show by sheer numbers alone.
