Deals on Wheels captures all the action at the Wellsford Roaring Lions Truck show held at the Centennial Park Showgrounds in Wellsford

Well timed to miss the wind and rain of ex-cyclone Gita, the sun of the previous few days dried out the grounds nicely with a steady flow of people and families turning up to see the 57 trucks on display.

Entry was a gold coin donation and the proceeds raised went to support the Warkworth and Wellsford Hospice. The region has a few well-known local fleets, with Mason Contractors’ transporter and its ‘loads’ being popular with both the kids and not-so-little ones. Included it the other rigs that turned up was one that came all the way from Nelson. Auckland and Whangarei also had a presence at the show.

Craig Walker Building Removals from Kumeu chose the event to showcase their new International Lonestar and it proved to be popular, with many attendees posing for photographs beside it.

Another new truck that arrived just before the truck show was West Auckland-based Roading and Construction’s Mack Trident, which will soon be hauling a purpose-built transporter.

The Wellsford Volunteer Fire Brigade were present and the Lions food tent was busy all day preparing complimentary lunches for the drivers and raising funds by selling food to the crowd. Local band ‘Whiskey in the Jar’, trade stalls, and classic cars added to the entertainment, which saw $10,000 raised forthe charity.
