2017 Nelson Truck Show
DOW travelled down to the Richmond A&P Showgrounds to check out the widely supported Nelson Truck Show
The 2017 Nelson Truck Show was held at the Richmond A&P Showgrounds near Nelson on Saturday, 11 November. The truck show is organised by the Stoke School PTA as an annual fundraiser for the school.
As well as the trucks on display, there were food and drink stalls, bouncy castles, mini jeeps and a semi trailer set up as a stage, hosting various band and school choir performances throughout the day. Transport companies from far and wide supported the show along with the regular local stalwarts and around 80 rigs were parked up by the time the gates opened to the public mid morning.
Nelson turned on the weather which was a stark contrast to last year when the event was all but washed out due to heavy rain. The only prize up for grabs on the big day is the ‘Peoples Choice’ award and for the second year running the people voted for the immaculate T659 Kenworth logger from Tu Meke Logging driven and cared for by Todd Brunning. See the next few pages for some highlights from the show.
