Best Eatery competition 2016: the winners

And the winner of this year's Best Eatery competition is...
For the last five years, Deals on Wheels has announced an annual winner for the Best Eatery on the Road competition.
This popular competition highlights all the great food stops along the roads, highways and byways of New Zealand; because DOW readers would know the best places to stop along the road for an affordable yet satisfying place to stop, rest and refuel the body.
A total of 41 eateries from Mangonui to Bluff were nominated by readers, and the pressure for eateries to gather their patrons to vote over the three-week period was intense, the DOW marketing team was told.
In the end it came down to an inter-island face-off with last year’s top two eateries, the Rangitaki Tavern of Taupo and Dunsandel Stop Shop fighting over first place. In a déjà vu experience that was uncannily like last year, the Rangitaiki Tavern took out the top spot once again, repeating their 2015 win. Similar to last year’s competition, only 45 votes separated the top two eateries.
Congratulations to both winners and thanks to all the eateries that participated.
