Eamon O’Connor, founding director of Tauranga-based O’Connor Warren Insurance Brokers, has been named the top Elite Broker of 2025 by Insurance Business
Specialising in transport and trucking insurance, O’Connor launched the firm in 2013 with a client-first philosophy that still drives the business.
“Every client, small or large, deserves to be cared for and thought about,” he says. “If I could get my team to think the same way, that should lead to success — and it has.”
O’Connor Warren now employs over a dozen staff and was previously named Small-Medium Broking Company of the Year at the 2018 New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards. Eamon credits the company’s success to its flat structure, culture of trust, and operational efficiency.
“Our staff are some of the market’s top performers. We’re quite different in that regard.”
He highlights communication and diligence as the keys to excellence in broking. “You might not always get a perfect result, but if the client knows you’ve done everything possible, that trust remains.”
O’Connor also notes the local insurance sector is entering a more competitive, softening market phase — a relief for transport and logistics clients after years of rising premiums and limited insurer options. With high inflation, COVID-era supply chain disruptions, and complex vehicle tech pushing up costs, insurers have had to adjust. Now, increased competition is helping ease pressure on operators.
