Deals on Wheels checks out the Terex Evoquip Colt 600 Scalping screen dedicated to maximising throughput
With six units delivered in New Zealand in a little more than six months, the Terex Evoquip Colt 600 Scalping screen is proving to be a popular choice in the materials processing industry.
It’s an impressive machine that delivers far more than its size suggests, with its manufacturer saying the Colt 600 can comfortably cope with pre-crushed material up to 300mm or else can be fed directly from crushers.
An 8×4, double-deck Scalper, the 600 has been specifically designed for operations that require a compact mobile screen, with ease of operating and transportability in mind. The Colt 600 can work in aggregates, sand and gravel, topsoil, construction, demolition, and recycling applications. It has a throughput of up to 280TPH.
With a large range of screen media available, including bofor bars, finger screens, woven mesh, piano wire harps, and punch plate, it provides the end user with a great level of versatility. According to its New Zealand distributor Mobile Screening & Crushing (MSC), other benefits include:
- Low six-litre per hour fuel consumption
- and optimised hydraulics
- Rapid conversion from three-way split
- to two-way split—fully hydraulic
- High aggression screenbox with the
- ability to adjust stroke
- Robust, heavy duty, fixed angle two bearing, two deck screen
- Open chassis design with unrivalled access below screen to aid mesh changes

MSC hire fleet manager Dan Meikle says he was impressed with the technical specs and performance on the Evoquip machines.
A recent hire job saw the Colt 600 screening topsoil and producing a huge 80–90m3 of fines per hour at 16mm aperture. Along with proven machinery backed by the international Terex brand, every machine hired from MSC comes with 40-plus years expertise in the screening and crushing industries.
The MSC team says they take additional time to understand their customers’ specific product requirements and fine-tune the machines to give maximum results along with training site staff on how to maintain max throughput and any maintenance checks.
MSC dry hire screens and crushers on short-term and long-term contracts. Other hire combination such as Crusher + Scalping Screen can also be arranged.
