Business feature: Stevens Group

Stevens Group is a third-generation family business operating in a brand-new purpose-built 7000sqm facility in Auckland

Founded in 1974 by Hayward and Brian Johnston, Stevens Group began as Johnston Enterprise—a small father and son manufacturing and engineering business operating from their home garage.

Through the 1980s, Johnston Enterprise designed and manufactured many products including tractor mowers and walk-behind mowers. The company was well known and respected by municipalities and local governments nationwide.

In 1988, Johnston Enterprise diversified from manufacturing and engineering and began importing mowers from the US. The business quickly expanded. Stevens Products Ltd was established, which consisted of three different business units: Stevens Outdoor Power Equipment focusing on the premium ride-on mower import and wholesale business, Commercial Outdoor Machinery specialised in the commercial ground maintenance and green recycling machinery direct sale business, and Stevens Manufacturing, which continuously designed and manufactured parts and accessories to modify imported machinery to suit New Zealand climate and its very own brand Tiger Chipper Shredder.

Today, Stevens Products Ltd is trading as Stevens Group, a third-generation family business operating in a brand-new purpose-built 7000 square meter facility on three acres land area in Auckland.

Consolidating Stevens Outdoor Equipment, Commercial Outdoor Machinery, and Stevens Manufacturing, Stevens Group offers a portfolio of finely selected internationally well-known premium brands in the categories of excavators, woodchippers, stump grinders, skid steers, tractors, green recycling machinery, and premium zero turn ride-on mowers.

Stevens Group’s service to its customers does not just stop at the sale.
