Southpac takes over JAC truck sales

Southpac takes over JAC truck sales

JAC has expanded its presence in NZ, adding six new locations to its national network as it continues to grow its footprint in both the ute and truck markets

Five of the new sites are full-service ute dealerships offering both sales and servicing. A sixth, in Wellington, will focus on servicing only. The new sales locations are in Whangārei (Tristram Northland), Gisborne (Alan Berry Motors), Palmerston North (Palmfeild Motors), Levin (HMC Levin), and Dunedin (Gilmour Motors). Wellington’s service location will operate through Saxton Autos.

This move comes as Southpac Trucks – JAC’s affiliated company – takes on an expanded role. Previously providing servicing for JAC Trucks nationwide, Southpac will now also manage JAC truck sales across both the North and South Islands.

The brand’s general manager, Andrew Craw, says the selection of the new partners followed a considered process. “We’ve worked closely with each team to make sure they’re the right fit,” he says, noting that local dealer expertise was central to supporting JAC’s growth in regional centres.

JAC entered the New Zealand market earlier in 2025 with the launch of its T9 Ute, part of a broader push by several Chinese automotive brands into the utility vehicle space. The T9 is now available through 11 dealerships nationwide.

The company has also sought to raise its local profile through community involvement, including a vehicle sponsorship of Fieldays and support for the food-rescue charity KiwiHarvest.

As competition intensifies in the light commercial and truck segments, JAC’s regional expansion signals its intent to remain a long-term player in the New Zealand market.
