Boss Attachments reports growing demand for its Xcentric and OSA brands, thanks to standout performance, innovation, and strong word-of-mouth from NZ contractors
Not long back from the recent Diesel Dirt and Turf Expo in Sydney, Paul Herbison of Boss Attachments is excited about the extra traction that their crushing and screening brands are getting.
“There is a great reason for that,” Paul says. “Word of mouth – because contractors talk to one another and when they’re happy with a product they will invariably tell their mates.”
One of the well-regarded brands is the Xcentric range of hydraulic rippers and crusher buckets. During the last decade, Paul says the Xcentric brand has earned an outstanding reputation for ground-breaking innovation and proven performance – particularly when it comes to increased production, reduced time and lower operating costs.
Xcentric Hydraulic Ripper

The Xcentric Hydraulic Ripper is widely regarded as a revolution in rock extraction and has taken the removal and processing of rock and concrete to a whole new level. The unit features a patented system of ‘Impact Technology by Accumulation of Energy’, with Paul saying that the Xcentric Ripper has been proven to be up to five times more productive than conventional breakers and extraction methods.
“It has become a recognised alternative on sites where noise concerns, environmental or safety factors mean that drilling or blasting are no longer options,” he says.
Describing it as a ‘bit of a beast’, one of Boss Attachments Bay of Plenty clients says their Xcentric XR 40 hydraulic ripper has had made a massive difference to their overall operation and increased production by around 400%.
Xcentric Crusher Bucket
The Xcentric Crusher Bucket is also a great example of innovation and performance, with the technologically advanced crusher buckets said to be in a class of their own – so much so that one of Boss Attachments Hawke’s Bay clients describing his XC 17 as “the best bloody attachment that he has ever brought.”
Xcentric Crusher Buckets feature a patented isolating jaw movement that are designed to deliver at least 35% greater production than conventional crusher buckets, as well as fully adjustable jaws to give an output product of +20mm to +170mm.
OSA demolition range
Another highly rated Boss brand is the OSA demolition range that includes internationally leading crushers and pulverisers.
The performance-focused brand is designed and built to work harder for longer. Paul says New Zealand contractors have been really impressed with the OSA Multi System, which can be can crush, shear, or pulverise and provides a multi-function capability from a single tool.
“Our brands deliver major benefit to clients – so if you’re looking at options to cut costs and increase productivity – as well as taking advantage of the recent extra 20% depreciation announcement – call us today,” Paul says.
