Check out these photos from this year’s Ashburton Truck Show…
Ashburton Truck Show organiser Rick Harkness says that he was prompted to put the show together to support Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand after his father was diagnosed with leukaemia nearly four years ago; a disease that eventually claimed his life.
As well as drawing attention to the disease, the show – held at the Ashburton A&P Showgrounds on Saturday 3 September – helped raise money for the non-government funded body.
Harkness says that public attendance was outstanding, with positive feedback throughout the day. Although there were a couple of no-shows, extra trucks turned up making for a pleasant surprise.
Jackson Cranes and Heavy Haulage spent a large part of the day lifting people up for photos and videos; eventually raising over $460.00 for the cause.
“It’s still early days but it looks like the funds raised for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer should be above $10,000.00,” Harkness said.
“I would like to thank all the sponsors and companies and drivers for their support as without them this show wouldn’t have happened.”
