Old School Trucks: Freightlines Freightliners Part 2

This month, we spotlight the Freightliner Argosy — a reliable workhorse in the iconic Freightlines fleet, known for its versatility and enduring appeal

This month, we continue with our series featuring the Freightlines group of companies and check out some more fine examples of the Freightliner Argosy model in the very familiar and smart two-tone green and white livery.

The Argosy proved to be a good solid fleet truck in the Freightlines company fleet and lent itself to many applications including freight trucks, bulkies, dropsiders and tankers.

Contractors also found favour with the Argosy model for many years and there have been some stunning examples – particularly the contractors who optioned the 110 inch raised roof cab version, which not only looked the part but also provided 6’4’’ of standing room and ample space for floating work and constant nights away.

Whilst the livery remained uniform and pretty much stock standard on the company trucks, many of the contractors appeared to have some creative licence with the positioning and sizing of the striping and the Freightlines logo. The results were an array of plain but neat to bold and eye catching, which epitomised the uniqueness and character of the aforementioned contractors as the pictures in these pages attest to.

Next month, we take a look a brand that had been a stalwart company fleet truck option for several decades and continues to be in the Stocklines, Bulklines and Otorohanga Transport (OTL) brands.
