The Kato CL35-4F track loader made its official debut at the Mystery Creek Fieldays earlier this year, generating excitement, both from New Zealand-based HPL Distribution and the crowds it drew in to view and test drive the machine.

The CL35-4F is the first Kato skid steer to arrive in New Zealand and is part of HPL’s product expansion, with the business currently having a dealership for the Kato excavator range from eight to 45 tonnes.

Aligned with the ethos that defines the Kato product line-up, the CL35-4F was developed through the pursuit of what a track loader should do and what it should be, with quality and longevity in mind.

The team at HPL went to Japan earlier this year to visit the Gunma Factory where the CL35-4F is assembled and built. During their visit, they received comprehensive product training on the new model, and it also gave them an opportunity to test out the machine prior to importation into New Zealand.

The CL35-4F is currently on long-term hire at the Kaitaia Solar Panel Farm, which is one of the largest solar panel farms in New Zealand. Operator Paul Kukutai says he was impressed with HPL’s handover of the machine at the site with a thorough overview of the operation and safety aspects of the machine.

As part of the hire agreement, HPL takes care of all the servicing requirements on-site, which allows for little downtime of the machine. Paul has clocked up more than 150 hours on the machine in a short period of time and reports he’s happy with the performance of the CL35-4F and its reliability, with no glitches whatsoever.

The CL35-4F is a comfortable, basic workhorse, making it ideal for large projects with multiple operators. Its simplicity and robustness ensure that it’s wear and
tear-proof with little to no foreseeable issues, says HPL Distribution.
