Jeep Wrangler Rubicon returns

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has made its return to New Zealand, joining the existing Wrangler Overland to complete Jeep’s 2025 line-up

Now available with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the Rubicon continues to target off-road enthusiasts seeking capability and durability.

The new Rubicon features a 2.0L engine producing 200 kW and 400 Nm of torque. The smaller displacement engine promises more torque at lower RPMs and improved fuel efficiency, aligning with changing expectations for performance and efficiency in modern 4×4 vehicles.

With a starting price of $104,990, the Rubicon sits at the top of the Wrangler range, which also includes the Overland variant, available from $84,990. While both models share core features like a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and a suite of safety features, the Rubicon is further equipped for serious off-road use.

Key hardware on the Rubicon includes a Rock-Trac 4×4 system with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio, a 77.2:1 crawl ratio, full-float Dana 44 rear axles, and multiple skid plates. It also comes with a TrailCam front camera to assist with technical trail navigation.

Open-air driving remains a hallmark of the Wrangler, with removable roof panels as standard. Inside, the Rubicon balances its utilitarian nature with improved tech and comfort offerings.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon will be available across Jeep dealerships in New Zealand from September 2025. While Jeep continues to evolve the Wrangler’s technology and powertrain, the Rubicon maintains its focus on off-road capability – a key feature that has defined the model for decades.
