Kato rebrand underway

Youngman Richardson & Co Ltd recently announced a rebrand for the nine other existing IHI models

After last year’s confirmation from Kato Works Ltd that it had acquired the business interest of IHI Construction Machinery Limited, New Zealand distributor Youngman Richardson & Co Ltd recently announced a rebrand for the nine other existing IHI models during the release of a new 1.2-tonne excavator in New Zealand.

All models will now sport the Kato yellow livery. "The IHI brand has always been highly regarded, and sales of IHI products in this country has exceeded all expectations in recent years," Youngman Richardson & Co Ltd national sales director, Phil Fairfield, says.

"We can assure all our customers that the quality of the product on offer will not change. Attention to detail and innovative new features are what our customers can expect in the future and the new Kato HD12VXE excavator lives up to that promise."

The new concept Kato HD12VXE is said to be the smallest front radius mini excavator in its class and is designed to be small enough to pass through a door no more than 90cm wide. It features movable tracks and blade to allow greater flexibility and can quickly change from wide to narrow mode. Its 1180kg weight is ideal for transport on trucks in the 3.5-tonne category.

The remaining line-up includes the 1.7-tonne zero tail swing Kato HD17VX model designed for industry-leading digging depth, dump height, reach, and breakout force. The KATO HD19VXT with a variable gauge undercarriage offers high stability and versatility and is ideal for operating in rough and narrow places.

All three models feature a four-post canopy Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS), which can be lowered on the HD12VXE, so that the diggers can be stored in a smaller space.

The three-tonne KATO HD30VXE and HD35VXE excavators have reduced tail swing and come with the option of either a full cab or a four-post ROPS canopy. The KATO HD55VXE excavator also has a choice between a full cab and four-post ROPS canopy along with the option of multiple buckets.
