Event: Dempsey Wood Civil Digger Day

Dempsey Wood Civil and Lockerbie Estate hosted around 2000 Morrinsville locals and visitors at their first Digger Day

Dempsey Wood Civil and Lockerbie Estate hosted around 2000 Morrinsville locals and visitors at their first Digger Day in the Mighty Waikato on 14 November.

Dempsey Wood has several Digger Days throughout the year and the company says they are a great way to show communities what the company is doing and allows kids, both young and old, to get up close with the earthmoving machinery.

The Lockerbie Estate Digger Day was initially planned for March and postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Several local community groups were invited to use the occasion for fundraising, including the David Street School. They cooked the 84kg of sausages donated by Dempsey Wood and served them with aroha and tomato sauce.

Many visitors travelled from Hamilton or further afield to see the machines, with motor scrapers, 3.5- to 30-tonne excavators, tractors, graders, and rollers for everyone to get up close to. Some of the Dempsey Wood team also displayed their impressive operating skills by pouring a cup of tea with a 30-tonne excavator.

At the event, potential home buyers were able to speak with build partners about the home and land packages and the next stages of the exciting development in the heart of Waikato.
