A bitter cold November day didn’t deter 200 EvoQuip dealers, customers, and potential customers from around the world attending the company’s demonstration day near Lisburn in Northern Ireland

It may have been only a few degrees above freezing on an open site near Lisburn but that didn’t stop EvoQuip dealers and customers from around the world attending the company’s demonstration day, part of a three-day EvoQuip experience.

Based at Dungannon, Northern Ireland, EvoQuip is part of the Terex family and offers a comprehensive portfolio of products designed to address the needs of the compact crushing and screening markets in many industries, including building and construction, quarries, farming and agriculture, landscaping, and plant hire.

Some of the wide range of machines were on demo at the site owned by AG Wilson Ltd. EvoQuip says it’s a brand that offers customers machines that are easy to set up, are fuel-efficient, and easy to maintain.

EvoQuip marketing manager Dearbhaile Mulholland says, "We wanted to set up an EvoQuip experience for our dealers who sell our equipment all over the world.

"Some of our end users have never been able to visit the factory, so we invited the dealers to bring their customers here to Northern Ireland to experience first-hand the machines in action and to meet our personnel.

"We had 16 different countries represented at the three-day event, which also took in a factory visit and some sightseeing as well.

"On-site, the most popular machines for our customers were the Cobra 290 working with the radial conveyor and the Colt 1000, which was launched last year.

"Depending on the market, some of our attendees may not even have seen the Colt running so this was a great opportunity for them to do so."

The fully enclosed vibrating feeder with integrated pre-screen can be configured to suit multiple applications, including construction and demolition waste, rock, asphalt, glass, heavy recycling with high steel content, railway ballast, and coal.

On this particular application of mixed waste, the 290 was fitted with 50mm grizzly bars producing 0–60mm crusher run. This model was fitted with the optional vibrating under-pan feeder.

The hinged inlet lid reduces the risk of material bridging at the feed in point, with two independent hydraulic controlled aprons material throughput and reduction can be optimised.

The patented hydraulic overload protection system protects the crusher in the event of an uncrushable piece entering the chamber and minimises apron bounce. The Cobra 290 constantly monitors the engine load and automatically regulates the feeder speed.

The TC75R tracked radial stockpiling conveyor has a capacity of up to 600 tonnes per hour and a discharge height of up to 11m.

Demonstration 2: Colt 600 scalping screen

The heavy-duty hopper and highly productive screen box with aggressive throw, adjustable stroke, and the multitude of media options for both top and bottom deck ensure that the Colt 600 is suitable for all applications, including top soil, clay, demolition, sand, and concrete.

Side conveyors are hydraulically folding with an optional hydraulic fold on the tail conveyor. The Colt 600 is available with fines, midgrade, and overs conveyors as standard but is fitted with a standard feature allowing for a rapid two way split conversion, as demonstrated on the day.

With production efficiency in mind, the Colt 600 was fitted with fingers and was working to remove reusable fines for on-site placement and to clean up demolition material prior to crushing.

Demonstration 3: Cobra 230 impact crusher with Colt 1000 scalping screen

The compact Cobra 230 is an easily transported impact crusher having many of the same features as the larger Cobra 290 model. The Direct Drive Cobra 230 features a fully enclosed vibrating feeder eliminating potential for material spillage down into the engine bay and an integrated pre-screen.

As material moves from the feeder through the impactor onto the product belt, each section becomes wider, ensuring an optimal material flow throughout the crushing process, making it ideal for mixed construction and demolition waste.

Featuring overload protection in the event of an uncrushable entering the chamber, the Cobra 230 has two independent hydraulic controlled aprons.

The operator has the ability to move the machine using the optional remote control from the excavator cab without shutting down the crusher.

Demonstration 4: Bison 120 jaw crusher

The Bison 120 handles stone, concrete, asphalt, and demolition waste with ease and is ideal for contractors that require a highly mobile crusher, which can be simply loaded and unloaded and transported by tractor and trailer.

Equipped with an Isuzu engine, the Bison 120 jaw crusher is fuel-efficient using approximately eight litres of fuel per hour.

The machine features a single toggle jaw crusher that can be adjusted hydraulically using the remote control, giving the ability to reverse the crusher to clear a blockage as well as being able to run in reverse permanently for sticky applications such as asphalt.

The ability to adjust the jaw setting and operate the plant fully from the remote control allows for a fast and simple set-up for the customer. This is designed to be a one-operator machine, as the excavator operator can change jaw size and feed from the remote.

The Bison 280 jaw crusher is ideally suited operating in arduous applications such as blasted granite, river gravel, basalt, reclaimed railway sleepers, and heavy-duty recycled concrete.

The Bison 280 constantly monitors the engine load and automatically regulates the feeder speed as required ensuring optimum throughput for the machine without any operator intervention.

The jaw can quickly be set at any point in the closed side setting range using the hydraulic adjust system. A range of different jaw liner profiles and manganese contents are available to ensure optimum performance out of their machine.

The design of the Bison 280 has ensured optimal material flow through the machine even in heavy recycling with high steel content with excellent under crusher clearance, tunnelling from crusher discharge to magnet and impact bed directly below the jaw.

The Harrier 220 compact screener is a small yet robust machine designed for recycling, composting, topsoil, landscaping, and contract building industries. Its compact size, quick set-up times, ease of transport, and ease of operation makes it the ideal solution for small scale operations and can be used by those with limited experience in screens.

New machine announced

EvoQuip also exclusively revealed plans at the event to launch a new Colt 1600 scalping screen with the first machine planned to be in production by early next year.

Building upon the features that have made the Colt 1000 a global success, the Colt 1600 will be the largest screen in the EvoQuip range, capable of processing up to 600 tonnes per hour depending on application.

With a high-capacity incline apron feeder as standard, the machine has been rigorously tested in heavy-duty applications and more than delivered on expectations, according to EvoQuip.

The versatile and heavy-duty Colt 1600 scalper is designed to work in both primary and secondary screening applications, incorporating an aggressive double deck screen of 4.8 x 1.53 metres.

The variable screening angle and numerous screen media options enables the machine to operate in both heavy-duty scalping and precision screening applications, managing even the most difficult of materials with ease.

With its three interchangeable screenbox options (single shaft, triple shaft, and spaleck), the Colt 1600 excels in a wide range of applications.

The Colt 1600 is available with hybrid technology giving the flexibility to be powered by an external power supply or the standard on-board engine.

As with the highly successful Colt 1000, the standard configuration discharges the fines product to the right side of the plant, with the mid-grade on the left. Both conveyors can be ordered reversed, with the ability to place both conveyors on the same side of the unit once the Colt 1600 reaches the field.

Flexibility is further enhanced with two-way split conversion by simply relocating the tail conveyor to collect both top and bottom deck pieces. The already impressive conveyor discharge heights can be further enhanced with the addition of optional telescopic conveyors.

The T-Link telemetry system provides the customer with real-time information on the performance of their machine, meaning effective machine management and maximising uptime.

EvoQuip business line director Matt Dickson says, "We wanted to bring some exciting news in relation to a new product that we’ve been developing behind the scenes.

"I’m proud to officially reveal the Colt 1600 as a brand-new EvoQuip model, the first of which will be available to ship to customers in early 2020. We’re confident that this highly aggressive scalping screen will open up new opportunities for EvoQuip customers globally."
